The history of Apple macOS, Apples current operating for its desktops and laptops is known as macOS. Since Apple released its desktop and laptop he is using macOS for every version of his devices. Apple macOs are some what costly for user than windows operating system, but it worth its pricing giving sim less experience to its user. The current macOS is a Unix based operating system which was developed at NeXT in 1980.

It was released in 1999 as Mac OS X Server 1.0 with a released desktop version – Mac OS X 10.0 in March 2001.

Public Beta: “Kodiak”

On September 13 2000 Apple released an OS for the preview to the user costing $24.95,

the preview version of MacOS X ( codenamed as Kodiak) in order to gain feedback for the Macintosh OS.

 

Version 10.0: “Cheetah”

On March 24 2001, Apple released Mac OS X 10.0 ( Code named as Cheetah ).

The initial version was slow, incomplete and had only limited applications which was which did not fulfilled a task.

Critics said OS wasn’t ready for the mainstream adoption. Simply realising Mac OS to the market was like a great accomplishment .

 

Version 10.1: “Puma”

On September 25 2001, Apple released Mac OS X 10.1 ( code named as Puma ).

It has better performance and fulfilled all the needs which was laking in Mac OS X 10.0, such as DVD player.

Apple released Mac OS X 10.1 as a free software CD for the user who had installed OS X 10.0.

But for users on Mac OS 9 released $129 upgrade CD.

 

Version 10.2: “Jaguar”

On August 23 2002, Apple released Mac OS X 10.2 (code named as Jaguar).

The first release to use its code name as branding,

it bought a sleeker type look and raw performance improvements and many powerful user interface enhancement .

 

Version 10.3: “Panther”

On October 24 2003, Apple released Mac OS X 10.3 ( code named aa Panther ). 

In addition to providing improved performance than before, it also incorporated an extensive update on the user point of view.

 

Version 10.4: “Tiger”

On April 29 2005 Apple released Mac OS X 10.3 ( code named as Tiger ).

Apple stated that tiger contained 200 new feature. But Tiger required a Mac with build in FIreWire port.

Tiger introduced spotlight search dashboard, smart folder system, QuickTime 7, Safari 2, Voiceover etc.

 

Version 10.5: “Leopard”

On October 26 20017, Apple released Mac OS X 10.5 ( code named as Leopard ).

Apple called it as “One of the largest upgrade of Mac OS X”.

Leopard supported both PowerPC and Intel x86 based Macintosh computers.

Leopard supported 64-bit application running for ex graphical applications.

 

Version 10.6: “Snow Leopard”

On August 28 2009, Apple released Mac OS X 10.6 ( code named as Snow Leopard ).

Rather delivering a huge change in appearance for the user Apple focused under the hood upgradation of the OS.

 

Version 10.7: “Lion”

On July 20 2011, Apple released Mac OS X 10.7 ( code named as Lion ).

It brought upgradation in Apple’s iOS. It supported 32-bit Intel processor and requires 2GB of memory.

Changes were made to the GUI ( graphical user interface) which include new launchpad which is similar to an iPhone.

 

Version 10.8: “Mountain Lion”

On July 25 2012, Apple released Mac OS X 10.8 ( code named as Mountain Lion ).

It holds some features taken in iOS 5, which included support for the Game Center, support for the iMesaage, iWork documents in the iCloud.

 

Version 10.9: “Mavericks”

On October 22 2013, Apple released Mac OS X 10.9 ( code named as Mavericks ).

It was released as a free update in Mac App Store worldwide. Special importance was given to the battery life,

finder option and continued iCloud changes and bring more of iOS apps to the Mac OS X platform.

 

Version 10.10: “Yosemite”

On October 16 2014, Apple released Mac OS X 10.10 ( code named as Yosemite ) , as a free update to the Mac App Store worldwide.

It featured a major overhaul of user interface, replaced skeuomorphism with flat graphic design and blurred translucency effects,

following the aesthetic introduced with iOS 7. It paired OS X and iOS devices where users are able able to handle phone calls and message when they are near to the computers.

 

Version 10.11: “El Capitan”

OnJune 8 2015, Apple revealed Mac OS X 10.11 ( code named as El Capitan ) during WWDC keynote,

it was made available as public beta in July and publicly released on September 30 2015.

Apple described why beta was required for this release because it was one of the upgrade Mac Experience, and improvement to the system.

 

Version 10.12: “Sierra”

On June 13 2016 Apple announced Mac OS X 10.12 ( code named as Seirra) during the WWDC keynote,

it was released publicly on September 20 2016.

 

Version 10.13: “High Sierra”

On June 5 2017 Apple announced Mac OS X 10.13 ( code named as High Seirra) during the WWDC keynote,

it was released publicly on September 25 2017. The release included under the hood upgradation.

 

Version 10.14: “Mojave”

On June 4 2018 Apple announced Mac OS X 10.14 ( code named as Mojave) during the WWDC keynote,

it was released publicly on September 24 2018. Some of the key feature were support to the dark mode,

dynamic desktop wallpaper which use to change with respect to the users timing.
